Vercors Natural Park: A white traverse

The Vercors natural park is a well preserved area of the French Alps, close to the city of Grenoble. This trip is a beautiful traverse of Vercors, from the Méaudre village, surrounded by pine forests, to Lans en Vercors. The fauna is rich and animals shelter easily in the large forests. A pure winter walk, where you can feel what snow really smells like! You will discover one of the most stunning and varied environments for rambling: a classic!
Walking with snowshoes doesn't require any particular technique. It is something you will pick up very quickly as you go - after about half an hour's walk. The path is absolutely safe, with traces of walkers already printed in the snow, trail markings on trees and rocks and detailed maps provided. |

Day 1 - Meaudre
Make your way to Meaudre from Grenoble. Then you can try out the snowshoes at your own leisure

Day 2 - Circular Walk Meaudre (5h00, +300m, -300m)
Discover the cretes around Meaudre and make your first steps with your snowshoes. With a bit of luck, you can see chamois, deer and foxes...

Day 3 - To Autrans (5h00, +300m, -300m)
Traverse the hills between the 2 villages and pass by many typical hamlets, as well as the Olympic springboard!

Day 4 -Circular Walk Autrans (5h00, +600m, -600m)
Experience the immensity of the Geve plateau, where you can view the Isere valley.

Day 5 - To Croix Perrin (5h00, +450m)
Tonight you will sleep right in the heart of the mountains, in a comfortable 2* Auberge.

Day 6 - To Lans en Vercors (6h00, +600m, -1000m)
Change of scenery as you discover the valley of Villard de Lans.

Ryanair, easyjet and BMI fly to Grenoble airport.
From the airport, shuttle bus to Grenoble bus/train station within one hour of the flight arrival (45min)
To Lyon Saint Exupery
Air France, Aer Lingus and British Airway fly to Lyon Airport.
From the airport, shuttle bus to Grenobel bus/train station every hour (1h)
To Marseille
From Marseille, take a train to Grenoble. Every hour approx, 3h20.
To Paris
TGV direct to Grenoble, 3h.

Bus every 2h to Meaudre in 1h25min (7 a day, latest at 6:30 pm)
- From Lans en Vercors to Grenoble
